A Decanter acaba de divulgar uma relação com 50 vinhos de ótima relação "preço x qualidade" (great values), que custam por lá, no máximo 15 libras (dentro de nossa realidade, algo em torno de R$150). Fiz uma pequena "seleção dentro da seleção", com 10 vinhos tintos e brancos que certamente você irá encontrar no Brasil e com preços razoáveis.

Planeta, Alastro, Sicily, Italy 2009

Planeta is Sicily’s biggest name and its personable Alastro is made from the indigenous Grecanico grape. It’s a plump, fully flavoured offering; vinous and phenolic with juicy, honey-kissed fruit and a strong, mineral seam couched in lemony citrus fruit. 16.5pts/20 (88/100)

Newton-Johnson, Chardonnay, Western Cape, South Africa 2009

Family owned and founded as recently as 1997, nonetheless this producer has forged a fine reputation for its wines. This is a rich, complex example, creamy in texture, bolstered by ripe apple and tropical fruit, integrated oak, and cleansing, refreshing acidity. 17pts/20 (90/100)

Mascarello, Bricco, Dolcetto d’Alba, Piedmont, Italy 2009

The Mascarello family can lay claim to a winemaking heritage that stretches back more than 150 years. Its 2009 Dolcetto is full of character and charm. The nose is all chocolate, violets and roses, while it tastes of crisp, juicy plums framed by judicious tannins. 17pts/20 (90/100)

Terredora, Terre degli Angeli, Greco di Tufo, Campania, Italy 2010

With 200 hectares of vineyards, Terredora is one of the most prominent estates in southern Italy. This 2010 Greco di Tufo is an absolute delight: sweet and beautifully concentrated, with gorgeous apple, elderflower and herbal hints, plus cracking persistence of flavour and direction. 18pts/20 (93/100)

Villa Antinori, Rosso, Tuscany, Italy 2008

The first vintage of this wine was in 1928 as a DOC Chianti, which it remained until 2001 when it switched to IGT Toscana. A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, this is a ripe and opulent offering, with sleek, woody, creamy black fruits that coat the mouth. 17pts/20 (90/100)

Bodegas Chivite, Gran Feudo Reserva Especial, Navarra, Spain 2005

Although founded in 1647, Chivite launched this flagship wine in 1975. It has aromas of cherry, liquorice, bramble, earth and dill, and a palate of elegant structure with sweet and spicy oak on the finish. 17pts/20 (90/100)

Bodegas Caro, Amancaya Malbec- Cabernet, Gran Reserva, Mendoza, Argentina 2010  

A joint venture between Domaines Baron de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena. The nose beams with plums, dried figs, cherries and mint with a juicy palate of spices, herbs and balancing acidity. 17.5pts/20 (91/100)

Viñalba Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec- Merlot Reserva, Mendoza, Argentina 2010

Viñalba has won many gongs since its launch in 2008, including three DWWA Trophies. The nose of this beauty conjures up blueberry pie, plums and baking spices, followed by a herbal palate of ample fruit. The bright acidity and balanced structure provide a lingering finish. 17.5pts/20 (91/100)

Craggy Range, Te Muna Road Sauvignon Blanc, Martinborough, New Zealand 2010

The best of many Kiwi Sauvignons at Majestic: really good length, fleshy yet firm fruit and shows true Martinborough vineyard precision. Class and complexity.

Sacred Hill Wines, Pinot Noir, Central Otago, New Zealand 2010

Made by the brilliant Jenny Dobson, formerly of Te Awa in Hawke’s Bay, this South Island wine is floral and spicy on the nose, with a certain Burgundian briaryness, good depth and balance. High quality and great value.
