Os melhores vinhos de 2012 (até agora...) Decanter Magazine - 1ª parte

Premier cru Chablis 2010

A Decanter Magazine passou a adotar definitivamente um novo sistema de pontuação, abandonando o antigo sistema de 5 estrelas (agora os melhores são classificados como excepcionais). Ratificando esse novo sistema, a Decanter ajustou a pontuação dos vinhos classificados como "excepcionais" em 2012 até o mês de julho.

Conheça a 1ª parte (janeiro/abril) dos 39 vinhos que alcançaram esta grande distinção:

Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009
Ogier, Expression de Terroir, Safres
Rich, spicy forest fruit, jammy strawberry, earth, mineral outcrops and blackcurrant nose. Elegant style with round, soft tannins, generous weight and a long, fruity, rich finish. Quite complex, integrated and delicious. 19pts/20Drink: 2015–2025. 

Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009
Domaine Tour St-Michel, Cuvée des Deux Soeurs
Fresh, clean nose. Soft tannins, delicate use of oak and soft ripe fruit, with a floral uplift and refreshing acidity. Has delicious complexity and clarity of fruit with fabulous balance. Poised and elegant. 18.8pts/20Drink: 2012–2020.


Cru Bourgeois 2009
Château La Haye, St-Estèphe
Restrained aromas suggesting a fine depth, offering black fruit, chocolate and earth. Smooth and substantial entry with a refined thickness on the mid-palate. Very Cabernet and very elegant, with lots of class and a great future. Fabulous. 18.67pts/20Drink: 2014.

California Cabernet 2008
Diamond Creek, Volcanic Hill, Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley
Powerful bouquet of mint, herb, cassis and red fruit compote. Bursting with lovely sweet fruit and spice, supple grainy tannins, good acidity and use of oak. A leaner, multi-dimensional style. Exceptional. 19pts/20Drink: 2012.

California Cabernet 2008
Silverado Vineyards, Solo, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley
Bold aromas of blackcurrant, blackcurrant leaf, plum, black cherry and kirsch. Smooth, elegant and very sleek, with a very fine texture and silky tannins. It has pure fruit and is made to impress. A bit of a bruiser but has zest and freshness. 19pts/20Drink: 2013.

California Cabernet 2008
Diamond Creek, Red Rock Terrace, Diamond Mountain District, Napa Valley
Sweet black fruit, red cherry, vanilla and spicy bouquet. Has an almost European slant with polished tannins and some minerality on the finish. Rich and concentrated yet well balanced with a fine vein of tannin and acidity. A superb example. 18.93pts/20Drink: 2012.

California Cabernet 2008
Robert Mondavi Winery, Reserve, Oakville, Napa Valley
Blackcurrant, bitter chocolate, savoury, spice, smoke and ash on the nose. Rich, broad, fleshy and opulent with firm but classy tannins, fine acidity and a silky liquorice complexity. Seductive. 18.58pts/20Drink: 2013.

Rioja 2007
Bodegas Darien, Reserva, Alta
High-toned baked fruit, spice, raisin, mint and vanilla on the nose. Super wine which is sweet, upfront and approachable. Typically supple and juicy balanced by crisp acidity and chalky tannins. Elegant. 19pts/20Drink: From 2012.

Rioja 2007
Contino, Viña del Olivo, Alavesa
Complex bouquet of redcurrant, vanilla, cassis, plum and cherry. Mellow, smoky, rich and ripe with fine oak balanced by tangerine acidity. Pure, intense, very long and very good. Tastes expensive. 18.83pts/20Drink: From 2013.

Rioja 2007
Bodegas Loa, Alavesa
Intense currant, baked fruit, toasty cedar, pencil lead, smoke and vanilla bouquet. Fresh, intense and woody palate offering a rich, ripe entry, sumptuous syrupy fruit lifted by balsamic and very well-handled tannins. Classy stuff. 18.67pts/20Drink: From 2013.

Barbaresco 2008 and Riserva 2006
Col dei Venti, Tufo Blu 2008
A sweet and stalky bouquet of red fruit, bitter cherry, earth, plum confit, polished oak and savoury notes. Cool fruited, with fine, fresh acidity and massive concentration, it is both delicate and classy. Very delicious and drinkable. 18.75pts/20Drink: 2013–2017.

Amarone 2007 & 2008
Marion 2007
Baked fruit, coconut, chocolate, prunes and a volatile lift on the nose. Luscious cherry menthol fruit on the palate shows good persistence with fresh acidity and soft, ripe tannins. Elegant, with great drinking potential. 19.33pts/20Drink: 2012–2014.

Giuseppe Mizzon, Classico 2007
Nice bright cherry and berry fruit, rich raisin and floral perfume. Powerful, youthful flavours of spiced confit plums with very attractive purity and ripe tannins. Everything is right here – the balance is lovely. Superb. 19.17pts/20Drink: 2012–2014.

Amarone 2007 & 2008
Buglioni, Classico 2007
Bright chocolate-covered cherry fruit and dried plum on the nose. Solid with plenty of stuffing, this is a big powerful wine with good acidity. Highly rich and alcoholic – as should be expected. It is comforting and full-bodied but not overwhelming. Very good. 19pts/20Drink: 2012–2016. 

Amarone 2007 & 2008
Cantina Flli Zeni, Vigne Alte, Classico 2007
Aromas of tobacco, woodsmoke and mocha. A very elegant palate with red fruit, silky tannins and fine acidity. It is lean but has bags of flavour to balance the austerity. Complex, bright and elegant. Really superb stuff. 19pts/20Drink: 2012–2016.

Amarone 2007 & 2008
Gamba, Campedel, Classico 2007
Sweet, youthful bouquet of tar, cherry, bonfire and perfume. Burly and very charming red which is quite substantial. It is very bright, energetic and pure-fruited with quite a firm structure. Should develop into something special. 19pts/20Drink: 2012–2016.

Giuseppe Lonardi, Classico 2007
Charming, savoury meat, leather, mocha, red berry, cherry, chocolate and floral-toned aromas. Ripe, round and balanced with lifted cherry fruit and fresh acidity. A leaner style with slightly bitter tannins, it is elegant with an impressive length. 19pts/20Drink: 2012–2015.

Le Salette, La Marega, Classico 2007
Youthful, modern wine with powerful, oaky nose. Very drinkable, fresh and light on its feet. It is juicy with firmness and grip, bright cherry fruit and a lot of finesse. Sleek, lovely and very convincing. 18.83pts/20Drink: 2012–2014.

Villa Monteleone, Classico 2007
Sweet cedar, plum and a volatile edge to the nose. Full, soft and ripe with aromatic blue and black fruit flavours. It has a discreet structure which feels like a velvet cushion. Long and complex. 18.5pts/20Drink: 2012–2014.
